Medium: graphite and mixed media

My closeness to animals and ranch life, as well as my training as a medical illustrator, sparked a fascination
for the emotion in all beings, especially the eyes and the narratives that the lines on a person’s face
convey.

My natural tendency is to use pencil and graphite as my medium, using good ol’ Strathmore paper based
on my early training and drafting experience (before computers!). I’ve discovered a plethora of new
papers and resources related to graphite and pastel that enhance the medium.
Re-emerging into the fine art field after a 20-year hiatus is a new adventure for me. It has instilled in me a
sense of tranquility and sparked a fresh enthusiasm for the inherent beauty within each of us.
I owe a great deal of gratitude to the individuals who have supported me and introduced me to the art
community of the Sierra foothills.
