Jo Ann Ogburn has explored art throughout her life, taking night classes in oil painting while teaching school and later building a career in the business world. It was a perfect balance and a relaxing escape from her busy professional life.
In 2000, she switched to watercolor to enjoy the technique, the fresh blend of colors, and to explore the mysteries of water. Jo began with classes in Palo Alto, California, and now participates in workshops for new ideas, tips, and inspiration, while also painting regularly with the AAUW (American Association of University Women) subgroup, Art in Action, which meets twice a month. She’s also a member of the Amador County Artist Association.
Jo feels lucky to call Upcountry in Pioneer home, where she lives on 10 acres of mountain forest complete with a creek, pond, and waterfall. Surrounded by nature, she finds endless inspiration to create watercolor paintings and cards featuring flowers, landscapes, and animals.
Painting has helped her truly appreciate nature, from its vivid colors and varied shapes to the striking contrast between light and shadow. Jo hopes you’ll notice some of these details as you experience her artwork.
