Jo Ann Ogburn dabbled in art most of her life, with night classes in oil painting, as she taught school and later forged a career in the business world. It was a wonderful complement and relaxation to a hectic career.

In 2000 she switched to watercolor to enjoy the technique, freshness of color as they blend, and to learn the secret of water. Jo started with classes in Palo Alto, California, and now indulges in workshops for new insights, tips, and motivation as well as painting regularly with the AAUW (American Association of University Women) subgroup, Art in Action, meeting twice monthly. She is also a member of the Amador County Artist Association.

Jo feels fortunate to live Upcountry in Pioneer on 10 acres of mountain forest with a creek, pond and waterfall, which afford her the unique opportunity to live immersed in nature. This inspires her to create watercolor paintings and cards of flowers, landscapes and animals.

Painting has taught her to really look at nature to observe its multiple vibrant colors, varied shapes and forms, and contrast to sunlight and shade.

Jo hopes you can find some of these features as you enjoy her artwork.
