Melissa Doyel has drawn, painted or hand crafted most of her life and loves exploring new ways to create. After moving from the Bay Area to Fiddletown in 2008, she was able to devote more time to her art and a renewed focus to pursue her passion.

Melissa was an active co-op member of the Sutter Creek Gallery until her move to Sequim, Washington in 2018. She continues to exhibit some of her Amador area artwork at the gallery. She currently enjoys exploring the beautiful Northwest Olympic Peninsula, finding new opportunities and inspiration for her paintings.

Melissa works in watercolor, acrylics, pastels and oils and enjoys painting a variety of subject matter, including portraiture. Her own reference material of special people, places and nature inspire her work. While not formally trained, she feels incredibly fortunate to have found amazing teachers and artists who have helped her explore new ideas and techniques.

Melissa’s work has been accepted into multiple local and regional juried shows in California and Washington as well as having received Best of Division, Best of Show and multiple 1st and 2nd place awards in the Amador County fairs.

In addition to the Sutter Creek Gallery, you also find her work in the 1 Of a Kind Art Gallery in Port Angeles, Wash.
