Wendy Rogers is the featured artist at the Sutter Creek gallery for the month of July. She is an award-winning painter and blogger who has work in private collections throughout the country. Working with careful drawings and a limited palette of transparent hues, she often enhances her watercolor paintings with layers of colored pencil-deep sky blues and purples, shadows of inky indigo, soft highlights of lightest grays and periwinkle–all serving to communicate her passion for her craft, and her growing love of nature. Wendy’s acrylic pieces use the same palette of colors, the same strong drawings and lovely contrasts as her watercolor pieces.
She was born and raised in the shadow of Mt. Diablo in the East Bay Area~an area known for its wonderful fresh fruit and rich farmlands.
In college, Wendy studied Fine Arts and Horticulture. Figure drawings often included detailed studies of plant parts, leaves and bark textures. She is fascinated by complex subject matter and contrasts. Wendy enjoys painting portraits and landscapes, She loves animals and birds. In the last few years, her
painting has blossomed to become richer and more expressive.
Come and meet Wendy and see work on July 6, 2024 at the Sutter Creek Gallery from 2 to 5.
